Barwon Health - Clinical Engineering is responsible for the management of a wide range of medical devices and technologies throughout Barwon Health sites, its affiliates and other medical sites in Geelong and surrounding areas.
Clinical Engineering is mainly responsible for the management of medical equipment throughout the devices whole life cycle. This involves asset Purchase, evaluation, management and disposal. As well as corrective repairs and preventive maintenance. Clinical Engineering is responsible for the management of over 11,000 assets valued at over $65,000,000. Clinical Engineering is also responsible for many other areas including; Technical Services – Nurse call and duress systems, Telecommunications – Mobile device, service and account management, Clinical IT – Clinical software, device and network management, Audiovisual – 60+ audio-visual rooms and 30+ videoconferencing rooms.
Clinical Engineering service many external sites across the Barwon and South West Victorian Region including; 6 Acute/Sub-Acute Hospitals, 24 Community Health Centers, 13 Physiotherapy Clinics, 7 Veterinarian Clinics, 7 dialysis sites with 44 dialysis stations, 34 Home and Nocturnal Dialysis (Home Patients), 5 Dental sites with 25 Dental Chairs and 2 Mobile Dental Vans.
